Ayoluwa African Dance Company

Hurrey-UP Stage & FilmWorks presents traditional West African dance concerts, lecture demonstrations, school programs, and workshops through its dance component, Ayoluwa African Dance Company.   The company’s mission is to educate the community about African culture through the high-spirited entertainment of the traditional dance and music of the people.  Originally founded in August, 1993 in Durham , North Carolina on the campus of North Carolina Central University, the company's diverse repertoire encompasses dance styles from Guinea, Ghana, Mali, and South Africa.  Ayoluwa communicates its message of diversity, and cultural understanding through the universality of music and movement.
